Portrait in the electron microscope: E.T. lives on!
Border cell cluster in drosophila egg chamber was showed. Drosophila ovaries were embedded in Epon and cut into 70nm ultra-thin sections. The contrast of cell membrane structure was enhanced by reduced osmium fixation. Sections were viewed directly in the electron microscope without further staining. The image was recorded in an FEI Morgagni operating at 80kV with magnification at 2200×.
